Nate here - going to try to finally get into Elite. Had some issues
with an original attempt to get the game going - namely trying to
figure out how to create a new commander on a newly formatted disk. I
may run into this again... If so, I'll be back with some questions. I
found what appears to be a really well behaved WHDLoad zip of this
game so we'll see how it goes!

Greetz to all my fellow Amiga fans out there - hope all is well!

Ok back where I started - could someone give me a step-by-step on how
to create a new pilot?
I get to the disk menu and see options for saving pilots, loading
pilots, doing a RAM save,
formating a disk... I type my name in and the game seems to freeze
up.

I am using an emulator in this case - do I need to swap out the floppy
in DF1: before
trying to format?

I'm confused - and typically I can figure these things out! :-)

Nate are you using a WHDload version under emulation?

That should work very well.

The other thing is you might want to try the other version we mentioned
- which works fine here (again, under emulation).

If not I can WHDload up here, and see if I can tell what's going on.

Failing that, I may have a version of the game that is just an
executable somewhere, so if you had a way of putting that on an Amiga
floppy and running it on your 500?

Yep I could certainly do that - I'll give this another go and make
sure I'm using the versions listed
in the thread. Looks like an awesome game...
